E-invoicing in Malaysia
Malaysia is moving business invoicing onto an e-invoice system run by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN / HASiL). Here is what that means in practice.
What is changing
Under Malaysia’s e-invoice regime, suppliers issue invoices in a structured electronic format and submit them to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM, also known as LHDN or HASiL) for validation, through the MyInvois Portal or via API.
Implementation started on 1 August 2024 for the largest taxpayers and was phased in by annual turnover or revenue.
Phased implementation timeline
| Targeted taxpayers (annual turnover or revenue) | Implementation date |
|---|---|
| More than RM100 million | 1 August 2024 |
| More than RM25 million and up to RM100 million | 1 January 2025 |
| More than RM5 million and up to RM25 million | 1 July 2025 |
| Up to RM5 million | 1 January 2026 |

Why it matters for rental businesses
Landlords and property businesses that fall within the thresholds need invoices that can be validated by LHDN. UniiD announced E-Invoice Integration (“Coming Soon - e-invoice compliance”) for its Professional and Enterprise plans.
